Wait list question

I was placed on the wait-list to my top school mid May and sent in a LOCI early June. I hadn't heard anything nearly a month after sending in my LOCI so I e-mailed to make sure it was received and several days later they responded that it had been. Aside from that contact, there have been no other updates or contact with me. Is it appropriate to e-mail them regarding an update on the waiting list situation or just wait it out? (At this point, hope is slowly diminishing.)
