itachiuchiha wrote:so how much are y'all estimating to spend in total on apps this cycle?

I am gonna be at around $500

5 schools I'm applying to with fee waivers (125)
2 schools I'm applying to regardless (about 120)
A bunch more that are fee waiver dependent (maybe 200)

So yeah, 400-500, not counting the stupid LSAC fee of 160, the LSAT itself (registered twice at 160ish each), and the cost of prep books.

Cheers

That purple button leads to an error screen. Is anyone else having this problem?

Northwestern is free until Nov 4

I just filled out my CRS info now and have yet to send in my transcript. Does this meant that I missed out on waivers?

Lolz, no. I applied in March/April last year and received a bunch. I think the problem most people are having (including myself) is that schools are still comfortable and not quite ready to anxiously throw money at people to get them to apply. I imagine we won't be seeing lots of unsolicited waivers (or potentially even positive responses to solicited waivers) from the top schools for at least a few more weeks.

Does anyone know if schools give out unsolicited fee waivers to applicants from previous cycles who decide to also apply in an upcoming cycle? I received a bunch through CRS a couple of years ago but will be reapplying this year and I'm not getting any unsolicited fee waivers. I'm retaking the LSAT in October. Maybe after then? Or will I have to ask individual schools this time around?

Duke (fee waiver - $25)
UVA (fee waiver - $25)
CLS ($110)
NYU ($110)
Penn ($105)
Chicago ($100)

Going to apply to:

Cornell ($105)
Harvard (at least $100?)
Georgetown (fee waiver - $25)

That is over $700, all told, just on app fees. Add in the LSAC CRS (or whatever) fee, and the cost of the LSAT, it's over $1000. And that doesn't account for prep course/materials.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've received a few, but none from the t14 (highest ranked is Vandy). I'm waiting until after my October retake and then I'm going to start soliciting heavily. I'd really not spend $1000+ on apps if I can avoid it.

I got quite a few after the December LSAT last year. I knew at the time that I wasn't applying until this cycle, so I replied and asked if the fee waiver would still be good for the following cycle. Every single school that I was interested in replied and told me to keep the original email and I should be good to go. In the last few weeks, I sent emails to those schools (with a slight mention to the previous waiver email, which I included) and they updated my waivers by sending me new codes or auto-applying the waiver.

Unsolicited Fee waivers from W&M and South Texas College of Law today.

W&M must have forgot that they gave me a fee waiver 2 weeks ago when I asked for one.

Double-waivered by W&M. Can I trade two W&Ms for one Chicago/Penn?

I think if you get 3 you can start building houses and hotels, then you'll really see some profits.

Can someone explain the logic of hidden waivers to me? Why do schools do them? If you only see them when you're about to submit the app, it doesn't seem like they're giving the school any applicants they wouldn't get without handing out the waivers...

Hidden from Penn as well!

Still looking around $900 to blanket the T14 for me though.
