Confused about CAS Forum

Confused about CAS

So I'll be graduating soon, but plan on taking time off to work/study for the LSAT. But I'd also like to get my LORs in now. Do I have to pay for CAS in order to request LORs through LSAC and have those stored? Or are you only required to pay for the service when you're actually applying to schools and generating a law school report?
