Break Acceptance; No Seat Deposit

Post by drgalactus » Wed May 08, 2013 6:52 am

Hello,

I've been lurking this forum for a little while, but this is my first post. I'm certain this question is asked and answered somewhere, but the search function isn't turning up much, and I can't seem to find a good response.

My question is: while on the wait list for several other schools, I accepted an offer from the one that had admitted me. Since then, I have been admitted off the wait list into schools much higher on my preferred list. Basically- what are the repercussions from saying "I've changed my mind" to the original school? How do I go about doing that? The original school did not require me to pay a seat deposit.

Any advice is very welcome.

Thanks!

Unless you applied early decision to the original school there aren't any repercussions. Just send them an email saying you would like to withdraw from their school. You don't have to say anything more than that.
