Me too, between 25-full. Saying I haven't gotten more than 25k at even a T20, maybe I should apply. Or retake, but screw that right?BigZuck wrote:Got the same email, said I would get anywhere between 25K/year-full ride. 25K is less than what I got from some t14s.CaptainLeela wrote:Absolutely apples and oranges, not even trying to compare them. Just throwing it into this thread. I'm also in Ohio, so I think they've been really aggressive with me. And to be extra dickish...thanks for bribing me with the same amount of money I got from the T14, I'm super impressed!WanderingPondering wrote:To be fair, its a much better deal than having to be ranked first or second in the class like Barry.CaptainLeela wrote:Case Western just emailed me about "Guaranteed Scholarships." Body of the email indicated that they have seats available in their fall class for strong candidates "like me" and have typically given given 25k/year to someone with my numbers. They then said that the "guaranteed" language referred to the lack of stipulation...except for having a 2.33 GPA, which according to the email simply meant good standing, but I thought that was a bit muddled.
They've gotten weirdly into the mud at TTT this cycle.

Montana never fails to mention how its law school is "nestled in the mountains." Wouldn't you like to be nestled in the mountains? Don't you just want to stop what you're doing right now, and nestle? You can have a cup of nestle hot chocolate while you nestle and admire the mountains you are nestled in.
(I know Montana is probably a great option for residents)

That sucks man. I still have most of my wife's family ask why i don't want to go to McGeorge. They honestly think it's the best school around, probably what all they're friend's kids are aspiring to.Regulus wrote:My boss at work was just bragging about how his daughter got a named scholarship at a prestigious law school. While my coworkers were all congratulating him, I simultaneously felt both happy and sad for his daughter (mostly sad, though).
I also have a friend whose "dream school is American." She's URM (ma) with a 3.4 and testing around 165. I'm telling her she can go to a t14 but "American has one of the best immigration programs."

of course this ^ is nonsense, but when i read it, or things like it, my first reaction is always "oh sweet a free iPad!" Then I realize math.PRgradBYU wrote:Agh, you beat me to it! I saw this email first thing this morning and about died laughing when I read that Barry is resorting to giving away iPads. Paying $150k+ for Barry Law doesn't seem like such a bad investment when they're giving you a $500 iPad, huh?

I've had similar things happen to me. Is it bad that TLS has made me lose some respect for people who went to TTTs?Regulus wrote:My boss at work was just bragging about how his daughter got a named scholarship at a prestigious law school. Eh, i only lose respect to those that think they are getting a good deal. Or the ones that think they're the shit after graduating from a TTT. If your modest, acknowledge that your school sucks, and have a decent legal job, then I respect those types of people.PRgradBYU wrote:I've had similar things happen to me. This is true. I don't dislike people just for going to a TTT. I have two friends at NYLS which is like the lowest of the low. If someone went to a TTT and then complained about their experience in any way though (facilities, employment outcome, professors), that's when I'd be like .Dr. Dre wrote:Eh, i only lose respect to those that think they are getting a good deal. Exactly, those are the types of people I have a hard time respecting: the ones that think that just because they graduated from a law school, they've somehow inherited the right to be pompous and pretentious. Given the circumstances, going to a TTT might make sense for some people, and I don't hold that against them nor do I disrespect them for it. It's all relative.Dr. Dre wrote:Eh, i only lose respect to those ... that think they're the shit after graduating from a TTT.PRgradBYU wrote:I've had similar things happen to me. Re: Law School Advertising Megathread
Every day I find another one of my Facebook friends goes to law school. I don't know if it's my striver middle class hometown or what, but I seriously have 10 high school friends going to law schools from Columbia to Pepperdine (and one at Dre's fav school). No one gripes about their school though, not sure if it's a) denial, b) trying to maintain the "impressiveness" of having gone to law school and c) they actually like their school/they're the lucky one getting a job.

Oh BROTHER. If your boss's daughter is content with attending Cincinnati Law, she deserves to be practicing family law.Regulus wrote:My boss also talked about how the law school his daughter is going to has a great program for family law and how she will be fighting for women's rights after graduation.
Same here. There's a pretty large disparity in the rankings range of the schools my friends are attending: HLS all the way to Willamette.Yukos wrote:Every day I find another one of my Facebook friends goes to law school.
