Deferral Question

I know this is pretty much a crystal ball type question, but in general do most schools grant 1 year deferrals? Do scholarships usually get transferred?
Thanks!

Rink, if you were to defer a year and increase your LSAT score would that mean you'd probably have a better shot at a higher scholarship since you would be competing in a new pool with better numbers? Trying to decide if I want to defer and take this route, withdraw and reapply ED next year, or just go.rinkrat19 wrote:It seems like most schools will grant deferrals, but they vary in how good an excuse they want. Some schools basically just need you to ask, but some schools want something serious, like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity or serious illness. Most schools are probably somewhere in between the two extremes.
From what I understand, scholarships do not usually defer. Scholarships are, after all, incentive for you to attend School A over school B, and after deferring a year at A, you no longer have the leverage of a threat to attend B. But some schools might let you apply for scholarships with your incoming class. (Northwestern does this, and I got money after deferring.)
All of this is anecdotal.
