Taking some BS classes to boost my GPA (music, basketball, creative writing, etc). Some of them are 1-2 unit courses but are given a 4.0 scale grade (A, B, C, etc). Will LSAC count these the same as they do normal 3-5 unit courses or is there some sort of weight distribution system?

I know they'll count because they're not remedial courses and are given some credit and a grade by my institution but I'm just wondering how much.

LSAC gives no indication regarding any weight system.

Not sure what you are asking. It is a linear weighing system. 4 credits is weighted 4 times as much as 1 credit.

But when using LSDAS GPA calculators it just calculates grades (http://www.lawpad.com/gpa_calculator/) so I didn't know if different unit courses were given different weight.

So an A in a 1-unit course counts 4 times less than an A in a 4-unit course?

I don't see anything anywhere about weight, all I see is that all grades are converted to a 4.0 standard 4.0 system (http://www.lsac.org/jd/apply/academic-r ... rade-table). Also that 1 quarter unit is worth .67 of a semester unit. That's all.

I don't know how to illustrate it. Can't you just experiment with the grade calculator to see what happens?

It doesn't give any unit option, you just punch in grades and that's it.

I think I see what you're saying though. For example, 4 A's in all 1 unit classes is the equivalent to 1 A in a 4 unit class.

When using the calculator you enter the # of credit hours per grade.

For instance, if you took 3 classes one semester and got 1 A (4 credits), 1 B+ (4 credits), and 1 B (3 credits), you'd enter it like:

A: 4
B+: 4
B: 3
