I'd worry about the LSAT for law school admissions. Published? Decent soft, sure. Gamechanger? LSAT-masker? No.

In my personal experience, it offered no boost.

People will ask you about it in job interviews sometimes, though.

Like most things, it depends. If it's an academic journal that just publishes undergraduates' thesis, the boost will be muted. If it's some peer-reviewed discipline-leading journal then it will probably be a great soft.

I had some weak publications and I think they helped but they weren't deal breakers.

It's a nice soft. It will distinguish you from someone with the same numbers who doesn't have publications. It will not make up for any weaknesses in your numbers at all.
