Will a lack of softs hurt me a lot?

Postby eric922 » Tue Jan 08, 2013 3:34 pm

As the thread title implies I don't really have very many softs. I have some minor work experience in minimum wage jobs, but nothing impressive. I'm involved in a few clubs at school, but nothing that impressive mainly because I'm not extremely social. I have a few good friends, but I'm not the type of person who runs for SGA president or anything like that. Right now I'm working hard on getting my LSAT score into the 170s and assuming I do that will schools accept me or will the lack of softs hurt me in big way?

The only time softs make a difference is if they're something incredibly noteworthy--the examples usually given here are Olympic medal or Nobel prize winner. Softs don't factor into how a school ranks in USNWR, so at the end of the day they don't really care much about them. If two otherwise completely identical candidates differ in softs it might make a difference, but your LSAT and GPA are far, far more important than softs, or anything else for that matter.

EDIT: This does not hold true for HYS, because of the extreme competitiveness of admissions at those schools. But for most the above is true.

No. If youre GPA and LSAT are there they will indicate how your cycle will turn out. Write a good PS. And get some LORs youll be fine. As ^ mentioned only HYS will it matter much.
