T14 Interviews

Postby az21833 » Mon Dec 31, 2012 2:01 pm

Are the only t14 schools that regularly interview students before they are admitted:

Harvard
Chicago
Northwestern
Georgetown

Am i missing any? I know Duke, Cornell etc. do it on a very limited basis but im looking for the schools that regularly do so.

Thanks.

Northwestern is optional, but recommended. And Georgetown interviews seem to be for borderline candidates only (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

In the past, Chicago interviews were only for borderline candidates as they have historically had yield problems due to people choosing Columbia or NYU instead. Interviews were late in the season, and were typically for people who had like a 3.4/173 if they needed to try to bump up LSAT medians. The interviews were basically designed to figure out how likely someone was to commit. Might have changed since then, but that's how it has been for a long time.

have any regular decision candidates been interviewed yet at chicago?

so to summarize:

harvard - essentially everybody accepted goes through JS1 first
chicago - all ed accepted applicants interviewed, rd likely the same
northwestern - strongly recommended but technically optional
georgetown - used primarily for YP/borderline

is this accurate?
