I thought this had been answered already. No, law schools really don't care what classes you take. They care about your GPA. They don't care what your GPA is in.

This question's been answered already. Any major is a good major for law school; no major is a good major for law school. It really truly doesn't matter.

You've gotten a bunch of great responses to your questions. If you're going to keep asking until you get the answers you like though, good luck.

Sociology is arguably a great major because it's super easy, you won't learn anything or work hard (less to forget!), and you won't be equipped to do anything other than apply to law school.

(now replace great with terrible)

When it comes to getting into law school, no major is any better or worse than any other.

When it comes to getting jobs after law school, any IP eligible major is preferable. After that, practical majors like business or economics are marginally better than fluff majors like anthropology or sociology, but as a k-JD what your UG major was accounts for no more than 1% of any hiring decision.

Oh Dear God...major in Quantum Physics, anything else and law schools will consider you a flee-infested reject from a briar patch in Wyoming. You're doomed unless you make this choice now.

You should always consider a plan B. Sociology will get you absolutely nowhere. At the very least, a BSW might be of some help for an alternate career path.

So do law schools really not care about classes? Do they only care about GPA?
What if someone took music 101, dance 101 etc their senior year?

Did you actually necro this to ask a question that's been answered a bajillion times in this very thread? Take whatever you want, only GPA matters.

Now stop repeatedly asking stupid questions.

Any major you can get a 4.0 in.

Seriously. Go through any candid "ask an admissions dean" and they'll tell you that they can't justify admitting harder majors with lower GPAs over easy majors with higher GPAs. Do criminal justice or communications or something.
Or consider the hybrid program of criminal communications!

If you're pretty sure Law School is what you want, don't major in STEM. The boost you'll get for IP isn't worth the hit your GPA will take. So many people in STEM majors bust their ass just to get 3.0s. I know so many Engineers (especially EE) who are way smarter than me and work way harder and are right at that 3.0 border whereas I've been a complete joke my four years and cruised to a 3.8 in Liberal Arts. Of course the flip side is that they all have secured great jobs out of UG whereas since I'm delaying Law School I've struggled to find anything that isn't something I could have done after High School. However, I do still want to go to Law School at some point so I'm happy that I padded my GPA which will give me a shot at the T14 if I do well enough on the LSAT. I just don't think it's worth it to tank your chances at Law School Admission to where your best bet will be a TT at sticker versus the IP boost. Obviously, other posters disagree and maybe I'll be singing a different tune if I'm unemployed a year from now, but just my two cents.

I would say if you want the right balance between being able to get a good job out of school and keeping your GPA high for law/grad school admissions, major in business. It's not really a difficult field and most BSchools have lots of grade inflation. It's more busy work than a Liberal Arts degree so it's a little tougher, but it's going to be way easier than Math or Engineering. Job prospects are pretty good coming out and people tend to respect people with a business background.

How is it useful? Unless you take Law and Econ courses, it just never comes up.

Parts of the music major are actually hard, if you're not naturally good at music.

BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW HOW IMPORTANT GPA, AS A NUMBER AND IN AN ALMOST COMPLETE VACUUM, IS FOR LAW SCHOOL ADMISSIONS PRIOR TO STARTING UNDERGRAD.

For the love of god stop asking questions.

Also, law seems to be one of the few fields where GPA so thoroughly trumps the content of ones classes/degree. If you want to keep other avenues open, one may want to consider taking something useful and/or hard.

Plus, there are a lot of people like me who stink at music.

yeah dont rip on music major difficulty until you've practiced one piece literally 1000s of times, intricately correcting every minute articulation, phrasing and dymanics issue...and thats just the performing...the theory, from listening to you, you would fail, and the history is just as boring (although us music majors don't think so) and convoluted as any other history class.

Don't give music majors flack for actually majoring in something we enjoy.

If you suck at your major, odds are you don't like it. Like someone above said. You can get a 4.0 in pretty much any major, as long as you enjoy it enough to put in the time.

Thank you sensei Seagal. I'm sure you learned that a very looooong time ago when you were the only semi-white boy in Japan with your Xi Han gurus - please teach me your lethal moves.

What kind of extracurricular activities do law schools like?
