I will be applying before my December LSAT score is released (it's the only LSAT I ever took; I don't have any score in record), and I hope to make sure that there's not going to be a problem with applying with the slot for "LSAT Score" not filled out in the applications..
And if I do apply before my score is released, does LSAC automatically send schools my LSAT score once it's released or do I need to request somehow?

you can apply. Depending on how many pratice tests you took, and how you were scoring on them, you should take that average and deduct 3 points ( and thats your estimated score range). You dont have to tell the schools of your score, LSAC should inform them of your score ( at least they did when I applied). Just write DEC. '12 LSAT and you are all set. But if you do end up retaking and reapplying, then you will hae wasted your money and time.
