Should I include this in my resume?

Post by cneu333 » Mon Dec 17, 2012 3:30 pm

I took a year off right before college and had a full-time job teaching English and working as an office assistant in Korea for almost a year. Would it be advisable to not add this to my resume for the applications? I'm not sure whether I should put it in or take it out because that's the only full-time employment experience I've ever had; other than that one I've only done just part-time work and internship. Advice would be appreciated! :?

Why would you not put that on?

I wasn't too sure because it's something I did before college, and some people say that you shouldn't put work experience from high school/before college in your law school resume..

I think that's actually a really great addition to your resume.

Without a doubt, you should include it.

+1. Most apps will have a space where you explain any gaps your education. Use this space to give a great reason for taking that year off in Korea that you put on your resume. I don't see this hurting you, and I could see it giving you a boost.

OP should put it, but it's not a "really great addition." He taught kids English and was an office monkey.
