The only thing that will hurt you is that you didn't apply to more T14s.

ETA: you can send some of those essays in a month or so as LOCI's

I suspect it won't make much of a difference, if any. We already know admissions is a numbers game and it sounds like you're not marginal for the schools to which you applied (if those are the lower T14s). Hard to see an otherwise qualified candidate (disclaimer: my assessment might be wrong :P) getting dinged for failing to submit an optional essay. Harder to predict WL - that seems to be more of a function of each school's applicant pool, which we can't know, but I still don't see failure to submit optional essays as sufficient grounds for WL.

At least that's my line of thinking. I'm in the same boat as you so it's also possible that I'm just rationalizing my own decision not to submit a few optionals.

I didn't do any either. I'm planning to spend a good chunk of time on them and submit them directly to each school as an attachment to my submitted application now that I have more time.

Bad idea?

don't know which ones you applied to, so I very well might be wrong, but MVP are the only schools that I've heard about that dings you for yield protect purposes if you don't write their optional "why x" statements, and I don't think you're in their YP territory, so yea, you're fine.
