Messed up page numbers on PS - worth emailing school?

Post by comeonletsgo » Mon Nov 19, 2012 5:02 pm

The thread subject is self-explanatory, but I messed up the page numbers on my personal statement. Do you think I should e-mail the school or that they won't care?

The general consensus seems to be "no" because schools receive so many e-mails around admissions time that it might seem annoying to them and hurt you. Also, if you discover additional mistakes after sending a correction e-mail, it looks bad.

Page numbers or formatting errors don't seem as bad as a blatant typo (which my PS had a few of and I still got accepted).

I don't think that they would think you wanted to be a lawyer to be born.

They will immediately understand the correct order of your PS is "I was born to be a lawyer".

The pages are still in order right, and just numbered wrong? as in it it reads correctly but goes "pg 2, pg 1" even though it reads as "pg 1, pg 2".

Or does your ps start with pg 2 but is labeled as pg 1?

regardless I don't think it is worth bugging them.

it says page 1 of 2, then page of 2 of 2, then page 3 of 2. just don't want them to look at it and think "IDIOT" but i guess they'll be blowing through the files quite quickly

Team slightly aspie class of 2016. Right there with you.

OP, I swear I have ghosts who haunt my page numbers and mess with them after I proof my documents. If I saw those page numbers, I'd assume it was a glitch before an applicant error. Here's hoping adcomms are as benevolent.
I agree with the hivemind, though. Keep it to yourself. I doubt they'll even notice.

Haha I'm glad. I debated sending something and thought it was ridiculous, but then paranoia set in and here I am on TLS.
