Is it worth applying to Vanderbilt with the sole intention of using their scholarship to negotiate with UT? I have a fee waiver, but still, if the Vandy scholly will do nothing for me, why waste $21?

I am a 3.95/169 MA Male, I just want to get as much money out of UT as possible. Do they match scholarships for schools like Cornell and Georgetown (better ranked schools)? Thanks!

With your numbers (3.96/169) you should apply to all law schools that interest you outside of the Top 6 but within the Top 18 or so. Are you a Texas resident ? If so, then your chances of admission to UTexas seem high. Nevertheless it's still wise to apply to other law schools to prepare for the unexpected as well as to establish negotiating strength. Not sure that Texas will negotiate based on a Vanderbilt scholarship offer; an acceptance to a higher ranked law school, such as Penn or Virginia, may give you more bargaining leverage.
If you're dead set on practicing in Texas, Vanderbilt with a decent scholarship is not a bad option, however.

Yes. I was accepted at UT from their waitlist and they matched Georgetown's offer.

Last cycle someone with your numbers was admitted to NYU, UCal-Berkeley, Penn, Cornell in addition to some other lower ranked T-14s. He received $105,000 from USC. Was offered $75,000 by Virginia, $45,000 by Michigan & $60,000 by Duke. Nothing from Cornell or Georgetown, however.
This poster also reports that he was waitlisted at Harvard, Columbia, Stanford & Chicago.
Based on these results, you might want to aim higher.

I think when in doubt apply. $21 is definitely less than risk adjusted benefit of getting a huge scholarship and using that to negotiate scholarship to (school of choice).

That poster only revealed his gender & that he graduated from a public university. But a quick check of
http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com should offer further guidance. Yes, it appears that T-14 money may be offered to a 3.95/169.
