GWU and Fordham fee waivers

Post by francesfarmer » Fri Oct 26, 2012 12:01 pm

I seriously don't want to spend $100 on applying to either school but I need some reasonable safeties. Has anyone gotten merit-based fee waivers from these schools? I'm at work and I can't look at the Super Spreadsheet on that one thread.

GWU wont grant a fee waiver unless your a lock at HYS. Someone in the GWU thread didn't get one with a 174 LSAT

Ugh, GWU.

I wouldn't even consider going there unless they gave me money, which I am deluded enough to think they might do. But the $100 still doesn't feel worth it to me.

I solicited a fee waiver from GWU w/a 170. I told them I wanted to apply ED, don't know if that made a difference.

I think it did. I solicited a fee waiver from GWU and was denied w/ a 179. I probably won't apply now purely on principle. Especially since G-town gave me one literally 20 minutes after I sent them an email. I'm thinking If I school is too cheap to give out fee waivers to people way above their 75ths, they may be stingy in the scholly dept. as well.

It doesn't make me think they're stingy in the scholarship department, but it makes me think that the adcomms at Fordham and GWU have huge chips on their shoulders. I got fee waivers from several T-14s but they expect me to pay to apply to their school as a safety. That makes me also not want to apply.

The strange thing was that they asked where I went to college in their reply. I agree, it's annoying when schools won't budge when you have the numbers and bother to inquire.

I'll second the notion behind that ginormous screenshot of a Fordham refusal.

I emailed GWU last night and had a fee waiver code in my inbox by morning? Not sure if it was a fluke because I am nowhere near the numbers of some of you getting told no (168/3.68)

Hmm. Could be that they don't give fee waivers to people who are out of their range but that doesn't seem to jive with the whole HYS shoe-in thing.

I cannot see the screenshot but yes, my Fordham fee waiver rejection email was poorly written. It was like pouring salt on a wound.
