3.81/163 Texas schools
Interested in Public Interest/ Immigration law and am very debt averse. LSAT is 5 points below my average practice test score and am considering retaking in June and waiting a year. But if I can somehow pull of a big scholly at one of my lower ranked options is it worth taking?
Applying to: UT (I know...), SMU, UH, Tulane, Baylor (not really that interested in going), and Texas Tech.
What are my chances at $$ at these schools and should I consider any others?
Thanks.

With a 5-point drop below your PT average, you should definitely retake. You'll get a nice chunk of money at UT if you hit that average, and w/more study, you may break 170 and have other options, too.

Do you want to practice in Texas? UT.
So, retake and go there.

Yeah, I want to practice in Texas. I've always known that UT is hands down the ruler of the Texas market. But is there any way to justify going elsewhere this year if the money is there? Keep in mind that Big Law isn't really a desire of mine.

Not really. If your GPA is good enough for UT, and you're close on the LSAT, then money from SMU shouldn't sway you from going to UT.Lockitup wrote:Yeah, I want to practice in Texas. And you say that now about Biglaw, but you really don't know until you get into school and get some experience what you want to do. So you should aim for the school that will afford you the most options.

study hard, retake, UT-Austin with $$$.
Actually study hard.
If you want to practice only in Texas, UT-Austin is the #1 Law school in the world.
