How much does a good LOR really help?

How much does a good LOR really help?

If I where to recieve a LOR from a sitting Judge how much would it help? Especially if the Judge is a graduate from the particular school which Im applying and Im going ED?

Obviously, the letter wont matter much.....

As long as it's a good letter (i.e. you don't peripherally know the judge through your family, and he can actually speak towards your abilities), it will be a strong LoR. A strong LoR is still just a LoR, however - it's very, very, VERY unlikely to change the outcome.
