I'm in the same boat.

I only see cancelling as helpful for those schools that weigh multiple LSATs. Lots of the ones I'm looking at say they only consider the highest one. Are they full of shit or what?

The schools that say they average are the ones who are full of shit. No reason to cancel if you actually finished the test.

If it helps, the first time I took the LSAT I was actually somewhat confidence in my performance. I blew it. The last time I took it I was sure that I blew it, and did much better than I expected.

Medians are too importaint to care about a second lower score (except argueably at few school elite schools). Everything else being even, a kid with a shitty score and a median score will outperform a kid with a single score just below median.

It ain't the end of the world. I scored a 158, 151 and a 164, in that order. They only cared about the 164.

If it really bothers you, retake. Not everyone gets it right the first time. Those of us who do end up just fine, believe me. Also, the LSAT numbers have done weird things this last cycle. Schools are not going to be as picky as they once were, I suspect, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Just try your hardest.

I am worried about the October test as well. I scored a 158 and a 162 in December 2011 and June 2012. I took a third time hoping that with a 3.6 GPA I could score 165+ and be competitive at a couple of T20 schools. I was also hoping to at least maximize my scholarship possibilities at my semi-safety where I am above the median.

Do I cancel to protect my 162, or do I take the risk of potentially getting a lower score? I can't tell how I did on the test and I am second guessing myself...How bad does it look to score lower on the third time? By the way, my schools claim to take the highest score.

I scored lower my second time. Didn't hurt me- the average of my scores or my second score alone both would have been too low to get into the school I'm at, so I'm pretty certain they disregarded the second score.

franklyscarlet, thanks for your feedback! Do you think being a third timer makes a lower score worse? I am not sure if it is worth the risk-if I should just cancel and accept my 162.

It’s simple. It is in the school’s benefit to report your highest score. They do not care about your lowest score. What they want is your highest score and [ITE] your $$$.
