You'll be fine. I think the general rule is that nothing really needs an explanation if it's less than 6 months. If you find yourself unemployed and want something to talk about when asked what you're doing now, just go volunteer somewhere for a few hours a week.

The economy is tough, so the schools will probably even more forgiving than they already are. Students and recent graduates tend to be unemployed for a variety of legitimate reasons. Over the past decade or so (the economy really started to dip well before the great recession), that has been true for a good segment of the general population.

Even taking time off to do the applications themselves (including preparing for the LSAT) is a good reason to "take a break" from working, especially if you do well on the test and construct stellar applications.

It also depends on your personal profile. If you are a longtime serial job-hopper, that could raise some eyebrows, but if you have an abnormal bout of unemployment - even if it is long-term - you have nothing to worry about.

What the others said. Also consider accepting a temporary, part-time, or volunteer position while looking for better work.
