TA LOR

Is it looked down upon if you have a very strong LOR from a TA?
(I go to a very large public university and the class had 500+ students)

Professors, all things being equal, are better. However, they never are, so here's what you need to consider:

Does your TA know you well?
Can he/she speak (eloquently) to your academic ability?
By getting this letter of rec from your TA, are you precluding an almost-as-good LOR from a tenured professor who fits the first two criteria?

If you can answer those and still want to use the LOR, then go for it. These are things only considered on the margins anyway; if it makes you feel better, it probably won't affect your applications at all.
