I'll add it but with an asterisks

FYI: UVA put up some of its new numbers today (Class 2015).

Medians: 170, 3.87
Class size: 358.
Applicants: 6,100.

No change in LSAT, GPA up by 0.01, class basically unchanged in size (+1), over 1,000 fewer apps.

wow... even with more than 1,000 fewer apps, they still managed to maintain 170 and GPA went up?

They probably had 300 of them locked up by January with ED

yeah... their yield rate was something like 52% for c/o 2014... which is even higher than Stanford's.... guess it's probably because of their extensive use of ED

I wonder how much money UVA was throwing around. Hopefully they aren't fudging their numbers.

ETA:
Also sickens me that they didn't reduce their class size amidst such a shitty market.

It's a little strange to me that they didn't cut their class size, and that they could raise the GPA to boot. It makes me wonder about how much of the class are splitters, pretty big ones by the looks at last year's 25-75 range (sure to widen somewhat this year, I would guess).

Berkeley Law's numbers are out!

Number of Applicants: 7,033 (-220)
Number in Class: 265 (+11)
LSAT: 164(0) 167(0) 170(+1)
GPA: 3.69(+0.07) 3.81(+0.02) 3.91(+0.03)

Just like UVA... 75% LSAT went up by 1 point... GPA improved slightly.. despite fewer applicants and enrolling more students

Berkzerkelely being able to increase its medians shouldn't be surprising though, even amidst a decline in apps, because they have TTT medians to begin with.

U of Richmond info in. Not T14, but still worthy of a look.

Size: 154 (n/c)
Apps: 2823 (+19%)
LSAT 75/Med/25: 163 (-1), 162 (n/c), 158 (-2)
GPA: Med 3.5 (-.04)

Hits to the 75/25 lsat, but impressed by the increase in apps and no change on the median lsat seems to be a positive this go-around.

Can top schools still maintain their numbers by just becoming less flexible with who they admit? In other words, would an applicant with the right numbers stand a better chance of not getting dinged for subjective reasons like PS or WE?

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. Schools can't be inflexible when there are less high scoring applicants. If schools have bumps in medians, it's because they've gamed the system appropriately with splitters.

He/she seems to be saying that schools may previously have admitted people who didn't have high numbers but had some extraordinary soft factor, and suggesting that it might be possible for them to avoid a drop in numbers by forgoing these applicants and, instead, admitting people with higher numbers but some significant downfall in their application (like they're a felon or something).

Ah. I don't think schools admitted any noteworthy number of applicants based almost solely on the applicant's softs. It is certainly possible that they may 'cut back' on it, but I think it's irrelevant.

I'm more or less referring to WE, as I have heard that the relative quality of this factor can function as a game changer for some applicants. Also, I am almost positive that the elite T-14 or so schools still deny many, many applicants with qualified numbers; I'm only suggesting that they might now be less inclined to deny as many of those applicants.

The data is the data...but none of this makes any damn sense if you know what I mean.

It might be approaching the realm of a 17x being 'safe' for a T14, at least with an ED.

What do you think the best T14 strategy is for a 17x with a shit GPA?

I have a 2.9 and a 170, and I have no confidence of gaining admission to a T14. I love UVA though, so I figured I would try ED there first.

I could give you my speculation, but why listen to me when a former admissions officer wrote a blog entry that addresses a question similar to yours: http://www.annaivey.com/iveyfiles/takin ... third_time

Although the person asked Anne Ivey whether she should take the LSAT for a third time (whereas you presumably have no intention of a retake), the portion of the article discussing her chances should she score a 172 is not very optimistic for your own situation. My guess is that few T-14s make a habit of accepting non-URMs whose GPAs are below a 3.0, but good luck to you if you apply to them.

Your best bet is an ED to V and then GULC and blanket from MVP on down with RD and ride the WLs and continually express interest anywhere you're WLed.

When do schools and/or the ABA publish this data officially? Is it generally some time in the next month or two that schools update their admissions pages with Class of '15 info?
