LSAC Guide to ABA Law Schools Updated

Post by KevinP » Wed Jul 18, 2012 5:19 pm

The official ABA guide on LSAC's website has been updated to reflect the admissions statistics for last cycle.

Here's the link: https://officialguide.lsac.org/release/ ... fault.aspx

Just thought I'd do a PSA.

ETA:
This is for the C/O 2014, which is the previous cycle's class.

From a brief glance it looks like UPenn, UVA, Mich, Duke, GULC, and NU all have tad lover 25% for GPA and LSAT. Don't quote me though, haven't done a comparative analyses, just looks like it.

Main question going forward, now that this is out: Good news for the upcoming (c/o 2016) cycle?

As mentioned in my original post, this is from last cycle. Although many schools released partial statistics for the C/O 2014, this guide provides complete information for every school, and LSAC only updated it today.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm trying to find an excuse not to retake but it looks like I'll have to wait till orientations in August to see where my LSAT falls in the new medians...

^Good point. I've updated the OP to make it a bit clearer. I might run aggregate statistics to get a better picture of what effect the previous cycle's decline had on law schools. Would be interesting to see the differences in class sizes/selectivity.

Excuse my ignorance, but when will the new stats for this most recent class (C/O 2015) come out?

Many schools start posting their entering class statistics during orientation. They'll typically list this information on their websites. Some schools may delay posting the entering class stats but may announce the stats to incoming students during orientation. These students will typically relay this information on TLS boards.

Here are some statistics for anyone who's interested. All of following stats are for the fall of 2010, and the increases/declines are from Fall 2011 to Fall 2011. These data are not for the current cycle (C/O 2015).

The number of applicants with LSATs 165+ declined 8.1%.
The number of applications to the T14, on average, declined 15.13%.
The average acceptance rate for the T14 was 17%, an increase of 2.41%.
The T14's entering class size was 4485, a decrease of 2.9%.

Extrapolating for this/next cycle (a statistically dangerous thing to do), I expect class sizes for the T14 to decrease, and I expect acceptance rate to increase.

Here are the stats, for the fall 2011 entering class, broken down by school. The number in parentheses represents the change from the fall of 2010.

Can't wait to see this in a year. It looks like applications were already in free fall at top schools last cycle.

I don't get how this happens. Applications fall by 16%, yet none of the percentile data changes (except for one barely moving)?
