Does being Academically Disqualified hurt chances?

Postby Fester » Sun Jun 24, 2012 7:56 pm

Hi TLS, I was academically disqualified for poor academic performance in my first couple years of college. Reason=unmotivated in a new environment.
I went to community college, was readmitted, and held a strong GPA trend until graduation. I'm wondering how this will play out in my law school applications? I know strong upward GPA trends are largely ignored, but will being academically disqualified for two quarters hurt my chances in any way?

Also, another really important question: Will the grades I earned at community college count towards my overall LSAC grade??

Swift replies would be greatly appreciated, as I have an important decision to make tomorrow about adding/dropping classes.

Thanks

Academic disqualification probably won't kill your chances completely, but it certainly won't help.

Yes, all your grades from all the schools will count, including the one you flunked out of and the CC.

it didn't seem to matter for me, other than the obvious impact on LSAC GPA

It means your LSGPA will be terrible, nothing more, nothing less. It might mean more if it were super recent, but you've put distance between it and your current situation.
