Wait, I know I'm still catching up on this thread, but "easy to liquidate real estate"? When did the recession end? Did I miss that too? I'm saying that if you have investments, you don't have to do this right now. Hence, your investments would not be sold now, but later. People buy property low all of the time, sit on it, don't sell it but gain a profit anyways and then sell it later. If you're not going to sell the property now, you need to take out loans. But you can sell that property to pay off the loans either in their entirety or partially whenever you want. I never said that you would right now. Hence, why you take out loans now. You hold onto property for various reasons. One could be financial, another could be indecision about what to do with it, another could be because you want to build on it later on.
