I was talking with a friend about what the most stressful part of the application process is. I said studying for/taking the LSAT, since after that it seems to be smooth sailing (PS, DS, rec letters take a while, but a lot can be done with those even within a single month).

Anyway, we were curious to see what TLSers are most stressed about this coming cycle. So share with us .

Personal statement topic. Not writing it, but deciding on a topic and focus.

I have plenty of cocktail party anecdotes, but nothing profound or meaningful....if I string together 3 of those will that work...no....?

The wait for grades in law school is worse. Much worse. As for the application process, it's gotta be studying for the LSAT. Filling out the apps is easy, and while the PS is annoying and I procrastinated like crazy on it, it's nowhere near as bad as preparing for months for the LSAT. Though, if you were late to approach professors about the LORs, having that as the only hold-up can be frustrating.

But dude. In the rare event you are serious about forging your professor signatures. Do not do that. WHEN you are caught, you will not have a chance at all at being admitted to practice anywhere.

I've been out of school for three years now and I didn't do great in undergrad anyway, so getting back in touch with profs is so awkward. I'm dreading it more than my PS. I actually did ask a prof about a year ago but decided not to apply that cycle, and now I don't know if he'll even remember me (and if he does, he'll think I'm flaky).

I need to get the hell over it. Advice??

Definitely don't need to have recs from professors, employers are 100% OK if you've been out of school for a while. And the RHWs warm my cold, cold heart

OMG seriously? I thought they wanted an academic LOR if at all possible! I can definitely get 2 great employer LORs, but I thought that would be frowned upon.

From what I've been made to understand that's definitely OK...if not I'm in your boat too

You def want at least 1 academic LOR if you can.

Also, finding no nicotine during the LSAT was the most stressful part. I had always studied with a dip in.

You need at least 1 Academic LOR, Yale says you really need 2.

For HYS it seems you need an academic LOR, but I don't think not having one will disqualify you anywhere else. I got by with two employer LORs five years out of UG and there are others on this site with less work experience than me who had only employer LORs and did fine. Certainly try for an academic one if you can though.

Spellchecking apps. More problematic than the rest o the process since a couple small errors will ruin ur chances
