It usually just means they've gone back to edit the content out of a post (they decided it was too revealing or they changed their mind). You can always go back and edit the content of a post. If your post is the last post in a thread, you can delete the post entirely, but if someone has already posted after you, you can't.

they wrote something, had a change of heart/mind, edited their post and deleted everything, leaving only a . behind (can't have a blank post)

Why do people post their GPA with an X in the hundredths place? Is it because they worry that including the full GPA will out them?

Yep...3.8X gives you a slightly higher degree of anonymity than say, 3.88 (especially since people are usually generous enough to give their exact LSAT score).

They're only in the Harvard thread because that's the only place they're relevant. They're explained in the OP.

Yes, I figured they were only relevant there. Didn't think to check the OP - new to this site. Thanks.

Lol. It's committee review from Berkeley.

At least this cycle it looks like people have been calling that FR1/FR2 for "faculty review" in the Berkeley thread.

What are your thoughts on defining $ v. $$ v. $$$ v. $$$$ in terms of scholarship statements?

$ is 25% or less off sticker
$$ is 26-50% off
$$$ 50 - 75%
$$$$ full ride

This is the general rule of thumb
