I sometimes see people refer to K when mentioning law school classes. What is K?

Thanks. Any idea where this comes from? I had known K to mean 1000 but was unaware of other meanings. Is this also spoken usage?

I searched it and it's been used in various contexts on TLS. What's FOB? Can't figure it out.

Literally, it means 'fresh off the boat,' a reference to immigrants. In the context of TLS, it is from a very long post by law_nut where he talks about his FOB parents and much of his life story. I've never read the full post (which I think has been deleted) but it is available for reading here:

Godwin's Law - as a thread grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Hitler or Nazis approaches 1.
