please don't interpret that to suggest i like or condone xoxo. was simply an observation.

i hate it with a passion. in fact, i could get into an argument right now that i arguably hate xoxo more than the two of you combined ;)

but.... ill save that for another night.

Is tier 2 really 50-104?? I thought it stopped at 100, and T3 is 101-136 or 139 whatever

Actually, yeah. I was surprised too. But I'm looking at my 2008 USNWR and that's what it says.

It depends actually. Some employers consider Tier 1 to only mean the top ten.

Second-tier schools are considered anything out of the top 10, said Bruce MacEwen, a law firm consultant and editor of the Adam Smith Esq. Web site.

That is true - but I think on this board most people consider the top 50 as tier 1 schools.

The 2008 rankings are out already???

Are you talking about this one?? Cuz it goes to Top 100, and then it starts Tier 3. I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just curious.

Should I remove it? I just copied that one from one of the other abbreviation threads from a long time ago.

Yield protect law school

Postby in my eyes » Wed Dec 05, 2007 10:42 pm

Yield protect law school - how often does this happen I wonder. I have heard that some of the weaker top 14 law schools like Cornell with do that yield protect law school, to protect their US News law school rankings.

I guess I just assumed that that because there are so many schools that are doubled up, that it all just equaled 100 schools. I never took the time to actually count the schools to figure out exactly how many are there.

And although there may be 104 schools, I still think that may be tricky to newbies who first come on and are interested in seeing what schools are in the T2 and T3.

But thanks for the abbreviations!!!

If you're going to have a lexicon:

Flame: A fake profile, persona, or hypothetical situation designed to mislead, antagonize, or annoy.

(Probably derives from the verb "to flame" which is to personally attack someone online.)
