Re: TLS: Abbreviations and Jargon
Hi! This is a really stupid question, but when people say splitter and reverse-splitter in terms of high/low LSAT and low/high GPA, which is which? And why is one considered "reverse"?
Thanks in advanced!

Greetings! I don't have time to go through the entire thread (went through a few the pages), but I was wondering if we could get the money ranges of the $ sign. I see multiple iterations of it, and would like to know the ranges so that I may use them appropriately when I am discussing and weighing my options on this board.

I don't think there's any agreed-upon scientific breakdown of what people mean by "$$" v. "$$$" and so on. I think it's pretty much in the eye of the beholder - someone would use "$ at School X v. $$ at School Y" but that just means more at school Y than school X - it could even be twice as much, but school X might be offering $5k a year or $15k a year. (This is one of the reasons why people are encouraged to list the total COA when they post choosing threads.)

I think most people use a percentage-of-total-tuition system. $=25%, $$=50%, etc.

Anything you can spin as a connection to a region. Did you grow up there? Was it where you lived before you went off to college? Do you own property or a business there? Do you have family or a significant other there? Basically, if you were to start working there, is there anything that might keep you from leaving?

Specific to Harvard.
JS1 is basically an invite to interview (I forget what the JS stands for. It's either the current dean or previous dean's initials, I believe) and JS2 is an acceptance.

It can be either a 2-year JD program or a program that combines a BA and JD in 6 years instead of 7 where you get your bachelor's after 1L.

IMHO isn't TLS slang or a TLS abbreviation so why did you post this here?
