T14 Deferral: binding and non
Does anyone know which of the t14 use binding deferrals and which don't? Particularly Penn or Mich if anyone has that info?
Thanks

Deferral as in asking to extend a year or two to enroll after you are accepted? If so, I think all are binding..

I would imagine all of the schools have done both before. Depends on the school's class outlook, your reasons, and how generous they're feeling. Also I guess it would depend on how good your scores are. If you're above both 75ths it would probably be a little easier to get non-binding. I wouldn't count on either though. I would also guess that binding agreements are more common.

I've never heard of a non-binding deferral. Pretty sure all schools require you to sign a contract when you defer. That's kinda the point of a deferred acceptance.

You can apply upfront for deferred admission at Michigan- the details are on the website. You defer for a year and then start with the next summer start class. I applied this year under deferred admission and it was non-binding (in the sense that you had till the Spring to put in your deposit, so it was like normal admissions). Still received a scholarship from Michigan when everyone else did and decided to go to another T-14 for more $$.

UVA is binding. I would imagine they all are, as it would be rare for a school that high to essentially admit you for multiple years without any guarantee that it would be worth it for them.
