WUSTL - Not really marriage material. There's nothing wrong with her - the down home smile, dewy eyes, and stable future are always attractive. But, on the other hand, there's not enough to make you close the deal. Actually, there probably is: it's just that you won't stay with her long enough to let yourself fall in love. When the Columbian model hints that she might let you buy her dinner some day, your heart flutters and you forget to call for a week. When the slightly less attractive, but infinitely more slutty Arizona State girl calls, you always make the mistake. At the end of the day, you try something new, vowing to capture the magic elsewhere. It's good, but slightly colder than the mild touch of a St. Louis sunrise.

Georgetown: bleached blonde, enormouse fake DD's, high heels for miles and a skirtline that would make a pornstar blush. She's always a pleasure to take out to a club, because all of bros and brahs who walk around with three buttons undone at the top and gold chains swishing through a sea of chesthair ogle her shamelessly, which is a real boost to the ego.

You're also quick to flash her around to all of your high school buddies who are working blue collar jobs, but you wisely keep her on a lower profile when you're around your grad school classmates; they probably wouldn't be properly appreciative of her assets.

And for the record: you know firsthand that the gonorrhea rumors were false...but you still wrap it up every time, "just to be safe".

Ok, here are three of the schools I seriously considered going to, but didn’t. I don’t mean these to be knock on any of these schools, which I think are great… just wanted to play along.

Penn- She’s gorgeous, smart, funny, friendly, and totally into you. All your friends want her, and they tell you how lucky you are that she’s interested, but it never seems to click. Conversation is awkward, you don’t seem to have anything in common, and if you didn’t know better, you’d almost think she was just average. Maybe you are lucky she’s into you, but you’re just not into her.

UVA- It’s the girl from high school, the one you barely knew back then, but met at a bar over break with some friends. She remembers you, and you guys hit it off. You could totally see yourself settling down with her, staying in your hometown. It would be easy. It would be comfortable… it would be boring. Sure, you’d have tons of fun and reminisce about the old days, but sooner or later, you’d run out of stories and while she’d never move two miles from home, you’d still be yearning New York or DC or, heck, South Africa… anywhere but small town USA.

NYU- She’s cool. She’s hip, and she loves her indie rock. She knows all the coolest bars, and (though she’d never admit it) she has expensive tastes. She drives to protests to save the world and end capitalism (in her dad’s Audi), and she rolls her eyes whenever you order meat at a restaurant. You become a vegetarian, she buys you new clothes and you feel cooler than ever… until you realize you don’t like the hip bars or the tight jeans, and you still can’t remember which band is which. She was everything you wanted to be… until you realize you hated being cool. You switch back to your old baggy jeans, t-shirts, and call up your old buddies to watch football and skip the protest. She stops calling and you don’t seem to mind.

georgetown law is notorious for being disproportionately prestigious among laymen.

and also for being a degree factory.

with that said, it's still a very fine school. (please don't kill me)

Michigan: She's the perfect girl for you...if you're taste is voluptuous, vaguely ethnic girls with orange fauxhawks, an abiding love for country music and screamo metal, ripped acid washed jeans, multiple facial piercings and an over the top obsession with BDSM and body modification. Also, you must love venomous snakes, 1920's hot jazz and ridiculously cold winters.

If you would pick a girl like that over Heidi Klum, Beyonce of JLo any day of the week, Michigan is the girl of your dreams and you will live happily ever after. If not...why bother?

first of all the thread title is a allusion to wilco and whoever it was that caught it is my favorite person ever.

Georgetown- I asked Georgetown out and all she said was "um...i guess." we went to the movies and she ran into like forty guys that she knew. She greeted each one with a hug that was a little too long and a smile that was a little too big. After the movie Georgetown and I hooked up but when I tried to put my arm around her after words she said "what are you doing?" We started dating. We had mutual friends and everyone said we were "perfect together." After the first time we went dancing she told me she wanted to stay together but to "see other people." Every time I called her after that it went to voicemail, except once when she picked up and said she was "too busy to see me."

OK I'm going to reverse the trend.

Michigan is the safe, dependable, and somewhat lovable choice for a guy. He likes hanging out and playing Wii, tailgating, and his favorite hobbies include music, movies, and sports. He describes himself as a "nice guy" and would also call himself laid-back and easygoing on occasion. He's everybody's characteristic All-American dude. You can't help but love him.
He has a pretty good job, is pretty attractive, and drives a pretty nice car. Your friends like him, your family approves, overall you can see yourself being happy. He's a decent catch.
But there's a nagging feeling that maybe if you had made a few different decisions, your life would be a bit better. Michigan is very funny, but he's not incredibly witty. He's a decent dresser, but not phenomenal. His goals and ambitions are great, and line up with yours, but they don't wow you. Your friends always talk about how nice he is, but no one seems incredibly jealous.
Ultimately, you end up giving Michigan the "It's not you, it's me" speech. Michigan cries, doesn't know what he did wrong. You were happy but just not quite happy enough.
Now you begin your search for a guy that's just a bit wittier, a bit sexier, and overall just a little bit more of everything.

harvard: the boy i tell my friends i don't even care about. i know he sleeps around. he can; everyone wants him. i insist that i don't care if he calls me, and that i'd take columbia or chicago if they romanced me a bit. but when my phone rings at 3AM and he's drunk, asking to come over, how can i say no?

Duke is like the girl you met the first night of college, when you still weren't sure what everything was about. One thing you were sure of, though, is that she was definitely hot, hotter than your girlfriend that you broke up with before leaving home.

She opened up to you right away. She told you you were exactly what she was looking for, and it made you feel pretty good because you were still uncertain about what most other girls thought of you. Then, slowly but surely, a bunch of other, sometimes even hotter girls started giving you the time of day. Suddenly Duke didn't look so great anymore.

Scorned, Duke started hooking up with anyone - serial rebounding in order to get back at you. One of the guys that she was with found some incriminating pictures of you on her camera, and you just found out, but you're still not sure if anything really bad is going to come of it.

He's brilliant. He's smart, witty, charming, and he makes your environmental-vegetarian-save the world side come out and somehow seem sexy. He's different from every other guy out there, but he's also well aware that he's different and never ceases to remind you.
But he's fickle. You never know what he wants. He's moody and occasionally brooding and you somehow always end up feeling that he's one step ahead of you.
He's handsome without trying, although sometimes you just wish he'd wash his clothes once in a while.

He also spends most of his time naked and saws off parking meters at night.
