This doesn't seem thaaat unreasonable. When a person is waitlisted, he/she's waitlisted by a school that isn't sure if that person is gonna accept. Waitlist serves a number of factors, protecting yield, figuring out which of the "top choices" are gonna accept, yadda yadda yadda. If she made a compelling argument that she will accept this school 100% for sure (and having a bf at this school helps make that argument) then maybe admissions guy thought with her high gpa she was worth accepting at sticker, even if she did have a low LSAT. The "retake the LSAT in June" is a smart (albeit kinda novel) attempt to see if she'll retake (which.... if she really is in...and if she really will accept at sticker....pretty much only helps the school).

I just got a call from my GF, she was ecstatic. Apparently she e-mailed the admissions office at the school I'll be attending this fall, where she was waitlisted, and told them that her fiance (referring to me) had already been accepted and had paid the seat deposit. She stated that she loved the area (she did an internship there for a summer during undergrad) and that she would like to know ASAP whether she would be getting in or not.

The guy on the other end told her that he loved everything about her app except for her LSAT score. He said that he would admit her, but would "need to take something to the admission committee" so he wanted her to take another LSAT prep course and retake the LSAT in June and try to score as close to the school's median as possible, also stating that if LSAC doesn't allow her to take the LSAT again (she's taken it 3 times) that they, the school, would override LSAC and make it possible for her to take it.

So from what I understand, she's in, but has to take the LSAT again for formalities (LOL).

I just wanted to post this because I thought it was interesting and may be helpful to others.

I hope you guys have kids one day so that I can step on their genitals.

Lol I don't know what else I can do...I mean, why would I sit here on this random Wednesday and make this up. None of my other posts on TLS have ever been flames.
I just got off the phone with my GF, she's on her way home from work and is super stoked. Yeah it's not a top law school, but we're happy and we're celebrating tonight.
It is what it is, just thought people would get a kick out of it. Not trying to piss people off or disrespect the legal field or anything or the sort.

I don't necessarily think you're making it up, I think you might just be misinterpreting. Maybe they're just telling her to retake the LSAT and if you do good enough we will accept you even though it's only a month before school starts. If she bombs that June LSAT I think you're going to be back on here complaining that the school rescinded her acceptance.

How is this that unbelievable? Mentioning that your fiancee will be attending the school in the fall is a very strong way of conveying the message that you will absolutely accept if you get off the WL. While it's a bit weird that the guy was so open in talking with her, it doesn't seem that far-fetched.

Also, the doctor thread didn't seem that far-fetched to me either. People understand the importance of loved ones when it comes to moving to a new location. Law schools in small cities will work to find jobs for spouses of law professors. Hell, universities will give a tenure track position to a professor they wouldn't give an offer on his or her credentials alone but they really want the partner as a professor there (this happens within the same department and it can happen among two different departments).

I did forget to mention that the guy on phone also disclosed that him and his wife also met in college and that he understood how it is, etc.
And yes, even my GF was surprised how open he was about the whole situation referring to me by my name/ pronouncing it correctly and whatnot, saying things like "Well whatever _______ (my name) is doing you should do too, you should study with him."
He liked that she did a summer internship in the city with UMADD (University Mother's Against Drunk Driving) and then went back to her undergrad campus and started a chapter there. Also liked how I was the VP of UMADD on our campus and incorporated it with my fraternity and the rest of the Greek community. Referred to me as _______ (my name) from UMADD.
When I spoke with the dean of another school from the area, she also pretty much made it clear to me that she really liked my involvement with UMADD...I guess UMADD is a big deal in the area. I mean it must be if they flew my GF out there after her sophomore year, put her up in a furnished apartment and everything...

My GF will be calling the school back tomorrow morning and getting more info on the "re-take the LSAT" request and all of that. She's going to attempt to pay her seat deposit so I'll let you all know how it all goes ASAP
