Visiting a WL school? Good idea yes?

So I'm WLed at Chicago and would like to give myself the best chance I can to get off the list. Does visiting the school potentially give me a boost?

The visit thing is new to me as well, so assuming it is a good idea should I set up a meeting with anyone in admissions or somehow get my name in there system as having visited or is that relatively pointless? Obviously I'll use it as material for a LOCI but I wasn't sure if it was considered appropriate or necessary to make the visit more official than dropping by and getting a campus tour?

Additionally I fully realize that there are good reasons to visit outside of WL help (the whole visiting schools you might attend and all :P) but this come down to whether I should do so before their LOCI deadline of March 30, 2012 which I would do if there is a benefit.

It's not worth you spending a lot of money to get there, but if you're in the Chicago area then definitely visit campus for the day. Just to point out for you though, not all schools make their admissions officers available for people interested in the school, so your best bet is to call ahead and see what Chicago's policies are. If you can't meet with admissions people, you might be best served taking a tour and talking to some current students to get a feel for the school.

"Getting your name in the system" is probably worthless. I would say go big or go home - meet with someone important and hope you are memorable/they like you. Otherwise just walking around the school isnt going to get you in, most likely.
