Question about gpa

Post by Lawbro » Fri Jan 20, 2012 10:22 pm

In high school I took a few college classes and didn't get the greatest grades. These grades did not transfer to my UG, but now that I am applying to law schools I had transcripts from both institutions sent to LSAC. Do you guys think the grades I got from during my high school days will affect the way law schools look at me?

They'll be averaged into your LSAC GPA, and the LSAC GPA is the 2nd biggest factor in admissions (after your LSAT score). So yes, the grades will affect you.

Yeah I realize that they will be factored in, but I was hoping the law schools might show some leniency considering I took those classes as a high school student.

Unless you have a better excuse than "I was immature in high school," (like "my mom died" or "I got cancer" or "I was single-handedly raising my four younger siblings") probably not. Plenty of people did fine in their high-school college classes.

wait are you honestly telling me that high school APs count towards LSAC???!?! holy shit
No? How would that even work? People are talking about classes taken at a community college.

Eh you never know, I did worse in my intro classes than in my major classes. Also I didn't take classes at a CC, but a university.
