Question about LOCI for waitlist

Post by PLDubs » Fri Jan 20, 2012 3:48 pm

Hi, TLSers.

I'm on the waitlist at my top choice. I've been accepted to lower ranked schools in the same area and I've also been accepted at a school with the same rank. Is it appropriate or an effective bargaining chip to mention any of the schools in my LOCI? Someone editing my letter (an attorney, FWIW) said I should, but I'm hesitant. Any advice?

From what I have read in interviews with admissions deans, it sounds like a bad idea only because you can't really leverage and negotiate waitlists like you can scholarship offers.

I'd strongly advise against this.
