Parent info?

Post by tallgaloot » Sat Jan 07, 2012 2:51 pm

I am filling out applications for schools and almost all of them ask for "parent info." I no longer live with my parents and I ahve not even told them I am going to law school yet. This section is optional, do I risk something by clicking the "Choose not to answer" square?

I filled it out for several schools. None have contacted my parents, so I wouldn't worry about it. That said, I don't know if it would harm you if you selected "Choose not to answer."

I am a non-traditional student (mid-30's) and haven't lived with parents for many years. I left that section blank and/or marked the box optional. I did call a few schools I was most interested in attending first and spoke with someone in admissions to see if it would have an effect of not. After speaking with them, I felt very comfortable in not including the information. I would suggest calling the schools you are most interested in and getting their take. Good luck!
