Generally for T-14 and T20/top regional schools.

Most T14's have GPA floors. So, from what I gather,

Bad-3.0 and below (save for splitter-friendly schools like NU and WUSTL)
Average-3.1-3.4
Good-3.5-3.7
Great-3.8-4.0

Relative to the medians of the school to which you are applying. You seem dumb.

I guess bad would be below 50th percentile
average would be the median
good would be above the 50th percentile
great would be above the 75th percentile

T14 i would say

Bad=3.5
average=3.75
Good=3.9
Great=above a 4.0

Yale and harvard have a 3.96gpa at thier 75th percentile, that means 25% of the class had above a 3.96

I doubt anyone at YHS would say someone had a "great" GPA unless it was like a 4.2
