Do we need to put high school info under Education?

Post by soleilik » Mon Nov 14, 2011 1:16 am

I am filling out the application for Berkeley, and under Education, it says:

"List ALL educational institutions attended."

Does this mean we have to list high school information as well?

Please let me know! Thank you for your help!!!

I interpreted that as "No" but if you want an official answer just call/email the admissions office and you should know right away.

Thank you. I was actually just about to submit my application ( I have everything else ready) when it just hit me that maybe we do need to provide high school information (even if we are not sending transcripts). Therefore, if anyone knows the official answer to this question, please let me know (I'd rather submit tonight than email and wait for longer).

Thank you very much!

Some applications actually specifically ask you for high school info. I did not when the app didn't ask for. No problems.

Nothing from high school should be on your app.

Some times schools ask for it.

Which ones? The only ones I've heard of turned out to be app errors. Obviously, follow any explicit instructions, but why would any school care where you went to high school?

I've heard that some state schools give a bump to those who graduated from an in-state HS. This could be the reason. Or to help establish residency.

CLS, NYU, Penn, Michigan ... actually it's the norm, not the exception.

Disclaimer: last cycle.

Yeah, at least three of those four didn't ask for high school this cycle. I think the flexapp killed off some of those vestigial oddities.

I know that Berkeley/UCLA explicitly ask for it.

I can confirm that Berkeley does. Harvard does as well.

I didn't put down my high school info and I actually had a school (Brooklyn I think) email me that my app was incomplete and made me email it to them. So yeah, you might as well it'll take 1 minute.

I think Duke does, not 100% sure without looking though.
