Oct. 2011 LSAT Fee Waivers

I took the Oct. LSAT and got a 173, to go with my underwhelming 3.45 GPA (albeit from a top ten school, if that carries any weight). The thing is the only t14 fee waivers I've received have been from Northwestern and Michigan, even though when I did some applying back in 2009 (with a lower LSAT) I got them from Columbia, NYU, Chicago, Penn, etc.

To the other Oct. test takers: have you already gotten fee waivers from lots of t14 schools? Is it reasonable to still expect them to come? I'm going to throw my hat in for ED either at Columbia or NYU (thoughts?), so I need them soon. I looked at the general fee waiver thread, but it's a bit too convoluted and with too many different test dates to parse easily.

Thanks a bunch

P.S. I already tried emailing fee waiver requests. To a school they told me that everything goes through CRS, and that they don't respond to individual petitions.

Columbia definitely sent one out. I also remember Northwestern, Virginia, and Duke off the top of my head.

you should e-mail and try to solicit them. i'm sure you will be able to get some!

+1 to this, but it's also possible they're sending out the waivers to higher numbers to start. I'm not applying this cycle, but my friend is with a 3.77/177, and he has received waivers from Columbia to Cornell, excepting Chicago and NYU.

Would be absolutely shocked if UVA didn't send you one soon, solicited or otherwise.

I took the October LSAT and also received a 173. I have received CRS fee waivers from every T14 but HYS & Columbia.

Do you think your 3.8 might have anything to do with that?

Might have. I've given up trying to figure out how CRS waivers work - some people with lower numbers than mine have received waivers from CLS, while people with stronger numbers than mine haven't received waivers from some of the schools that I've received them from.

Teach for America probably played a huge part in that as well. :/

I doubt that shows up on CRS. I don't remember disclosing it anywhere on LSAC.

As I mentioned in my original post, I already did sent out a wave of solicitation emails, to which I received a wave of "everything goes through CRS automatically" form letter responses, with Georgetown turning me down outright. I'm starting to suspect that, having applied unsuccessfully in the past to a few top schools, they've decided not to give me another free shot. The rest I have no idea

I've gotten solicited fee waivers from all but 3 schools I asked. Of the three that said no, one gave me one after explaining why I needed on. Two schools gave me applications for a fee waiver application. I didn't list my stats.

If your UG isn't HYP, it doesn't matter. Your flagship state school or a top private university is equal to Little City University of State as far as LSDAS is concerned.

As far as fee waivers. Most have come, but many will still be on the way. If you need to ED, then ED. Worry about a refund for the fee waiver later.
