Optional Essays

Postby jpal13 » Fri Oct 14, 2011 12:27 pm

I am really overthinking every part of my apps right now....

If they give you the option for 1 or 2 optional essays should I do both? I feel like I am a strong candidate with one optional but I could always say more about some of the interesting and diverse experiences I have had. I was pm'ing with a strong candidate with similar numbers to mine who got rejected from U of Mich and he had a great PS, excellent softs, 170 LSAT but he said he didn't do optionals and thought it hurt him. I think it would show a lack of effort to do none.

IMO, if a school is giving you an opportunity to present yourself in a deeper light, then I would take advantage of it. But, ultimately, it is your decision. You have to do what you think will benefit your application the most.
