Scholarship chances at Stetson Law?

Post by summer4627 » Sat Oct 01, 2011 5:29 pm

What do you think my chances at a scholarship are if I have a very high GPA (in the 3.9s) and an average LSAT score (156)? Do you think I have a shot at any substantial money? I'm nervous about if/how much I can get. I know my LSAT score isn't the best, but it's the only thing bringing me down right now. Is it so bad that I would forfeit a substantial amount?

Retake and try to get into UF or FSU. Central FL market is shit. I would not go to Stetson.

Stetson is pretty bad. I hate saying retake or don't go, its really the best option here.

Agreed. Don't waste that amazing GPA.

All of the above advice is credited. I was in your boat and initially fought the retake advice on this board but I finally did retake and am now enjoying the benefits of it.

Best of luck.

Don't go to Stetson. I lived in DeLand for several years and you will be a long ways from any law firm that will be hiring people, and all of those firms will be hiring from better schools.

I got a scholarship to WUSTL, but I got nothing from Stetson. If that tells you anything. I was a splitter though.

Maybe they will give you one of these if you agree to attend:

Prior application cycles on lawschoolnumbers.com (applicants) may help. For scholarship money try Michigan State & Indiana.

Deland
Stetson law is in St. Pete (right outside of Tampa). NOT in Deland.

It could be in Fiji and it would still be bad.

I have heard they are not very generous with money especially if you do not have stellar LSAT score. Check out lawschoolnumbers.com and you can see what some people were offered. I am from central Florida and Stetson has a good rep in central FL. Lawyers I have talked to like the school and I have yet to here anything negative about the school from students or lawyers. It's in a great location and the campus is beautiful. This past Monday I talked to a representative from Stetson and compared to the other 115 law school reps at the law school fair he stood out to me. Definitely knew what he was talking about and was very professional compared to most other reps there.
Hope this helps!

If you have the numbers to get enough money from Stetson to make it worth it, you can probably get into FSU or UF. So why go?

It's a failure. An abject failure. Don't waste whatever glimmer of potential left in you.
