If you've been together for 6 years and (to make an assumption) are planning to get married in the future, could you simply call her a "fiance" on your application, even though you technically aren't engaged yet? It definitely sounds more mature, and I don't think it is being deceptive. There is no real way to verify whether two people are engaged or not, so what's the difference?
