If you have a date picked out for you to retake the LSAT, as best I know the schools won't give any decision on your file until the new score comes in. That is assuming however that you indicated on your application that you're retaking the LSAT.
If after submitting your application you've decided that you want to retake the LSAT, I'd notify the schools ASAP, but I still feel like they'd simply place your file to the side until the new score comes in.

Stupid question - Do you need to do anything to let them know you are re-taking besides listing it on your LSAT dates? I listed my previous date/score and then Oct. 2011, will that be enough to get them to hold my app?

Like the poster above mentioned, law schools can see you have a test pending if you've already signed up. They will usually wait to make a decision..if for no other reason than the opportunity for you to boost their overall LSAT numbers. If its an October LSAT, don't even submit your apps until after.

Okay, the problem with your non-LSAT #s/softs is that your GPA is actually either at or below the medians of all the T14s you just listed (IDK GWU's median) Here are their median #s:
M 3.75 169
V 3.86 170
B 3.79 167
N 3.8 170
G 3.71 170
As you can see, if you got a 165 you would be below BOTH medians which makes the chances of you gaining admission very slim (depending on your definition, you might not even be considered a splitter, which some say is above one median and below the other). Most schools don't put THAT much emphasis on extra softs. It's a numbers game. I'd suggest ED-ing if you get a 160-something, and then retaking...otherwise your cycle might be a little disappointing. Take into account that NU requires an on-campus interview completed before November 15th for their ED program. IDK about the others.
