I recuse myself from any future posts regarding this topic. I go to a rival school and could personally not give a rats a$$ about Illinois and look forward to seeing their rankings drop, considerably.

Now I have to go read cases, ya'll ruined my studying.

This is the most bizarre dicktuck I have witnessed in a long time. It fails on so many levels.

Yes, but this is the greatest scandal to ever affect what people would consider to be a "top" law school (as far as I'm aware of). This is the only T30 to be disgraced in such a way.

So, I'm saying we could see a drop- the likes of which we've never seen before for a top law school. Someone said we could see a 20-spot drop, and that wouldn't surprise me, given the magnitude of the situation. But I would expect something more along the lines of a 10 or 15-spot drop.

I appreciate the sentiment. I wouldn't be worried, though. I seriously doubt Michigan State and Illinois are going to be peer law schools any time in the near future.

Please don't confuse my undergrad program with my law school program. Thank you and good bye.

Confused by your concept of subtle.
Doesn't bls go to U of C now?

I was told I would be looking at full-tuition at a tier III. I had many rejections, but all it took was one school to look past the LSAT. Now I am staring at a top tier law school and an almost full tuition scholarship. There was also other programs that offered me scholarships. Yes, I am AA Male, but I also have work experience, performance reviews, and did not stand by. I knew my LSAT score was weak, so I made damn sure the admissions committee knew I was interested in their programs. I spoke one-one-one with the Admissions Directors. Did this work at every school? NO. But for some of the schools that offered scholarships, I would certainly like to think me showing up in a suit and asking intelligent questions worked in my favor....

Thank you. I was wondering if I was taking crazy pills or if he had suddenly become an upstanding member of the TLS community and I had somehow missed it.
Dislike me all you want to. You act as though it actually matters outside of your own minds, and your disdain, contempt, or whatever you want to call it won't change the fact that I am 100% correct about Illinois as well as the other schools.

http://wtop.com/?sid=2568071&nid=209

I called it from the very beginning: UIUC had been doing this for years. I think all of the schools have been fudging to some degree, even HYS.

I have no proof of this except for the trickle-down (or bottom-up) effect that often permeates a competitive market.

Yeah...that was a little bit extreme (a little!), but I DID say Cooley of top schools. Data problems or none, UIUC is still one of the best schools, with one of the best faculties, best student bodies, and best program sets in the country.

I actually take no pleasure in this, and find it a bit sad. What I DO take pleasure in is being correct. i also thoroughly enjoy hypocrites getting busted. How quickly would UIUC have expelled any one of us for fudging our work histories or other information - even though it would have had no effect on the school's reputation or standings? Shouldn't UIUC and Villanova suffer the same fate at the hands of the ABA and lose their accreditation for two years for reporting false data? Shouldn't some more heads roll?

Damn, dude. She was all "the median is 167" and you were all "oh no it's not!" and then the stuff came out showing the median actually was 167 and you were like, "LOL told you so, damn I'm good, I TOLD ALL OF YOU, I AM GOD."

I'm pretty sure an administrator who is inventing LSAT medians but who would immediately expel any student who made up their LSAT score qualifies as a hypocrite.

I've avoided posting in this thread like the plague until the full story came out.

I don't know enough about legal hiring or the Chicago market or UNSWR rankings to really recommend a punishment/pontificate about what the future will hold for Illinois students. However, I think it is clear from this thread that the vast majority of those who do can easily separate the guiltless student body from the culpable school. It seems that most (maybe all) agree that the school should pay its due, but in a way that doesn't hurt the student body. One can only hope that employers will take the same stand on the issue. They are hopefully not too removed from the law school experience to understand the position this places the students in. The numbers are not hugely fudged except for this incoming class, which would have found themselves in a less desirable position even without the incorrect reporting given the fact that it was clearly just a bad recruiting year.

Could the ABA possibly not allow them to take in a class for a year, following the already admitted students? Seems like that would punish them financially and hinder their employment prospects without punishing the current students, who are really victims of the scandal. Maybe hiring then would even bump a little for them since they would be the last Illinois class for a year or two for alum to rally around at their firms?
