Why not? If this supervisor can write a good LOR then might as well get it.

isn't going to happen, though. But if you need another LOR and this person is willing to write one in time for you to apply, what's there to lose? If a school asks for a minimum number of academic LORs, keep in mind that this letter would in no way meet that standard.
