Can't believe some schools have already started and another week and a half. I will report in when I find out the numbers.

Good thread, I bookmarked last year's, really great.

Interesting that so far (repeat: so far), no LSAT medians have declined and GPA medians have gone up for some schools and down for others. In a year of reduced applications, that seems surprising.

Most schools just reduced class sizes so their medians wouldn't be affected. This is generally a good thing, less future competition for jobs.

Which schools did this? I don't know of any in the T20 which have reduced class sizes.

+1. If Pless wasn't a reputable guy I would be tempted to guess Illinois had gone the Nova route.

Vandy: 169, 3.78 (I BELIEVE THIS GPA IS CORRECT, I can't quite remember, but for some reason I remember this being the number from orientation. Maybe another vandy orientationer can confirm/deny)

Thanks. :) Can anyone confirm the Vandy GPA?

Also, does anyone know the new medians for Columbia or GW? Both orientations have already finished.

And does anyone know the date of Texas' orientation?

The UCLA website has the info if you Google "UCLA Class Profile" (should be the first hit), but it looks like the page is down now.

Wow 167? That seems low looking at their lsn graph...

http://usc.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/1011/

Ive always assumed that LSN was skewed a bit; after all, only those fairly dedicated to the law school admissions process would take the time to not only peruse but post and update on LSN (and TLS too, i suppose). Most people are lazy.

Wow, looks like UIUC's policy of piling scholarship $$$$ on applicants has really paid off.

William & Mary has Class of 2014 info up on its site and is reporting medians of 165 and 3.73. That's LSAT steady; GPA +.03.

"Which schools did this? I don't know of any in the T20 which have reduced class sizes."

UIUC just reduced their class size by ~20% (though it should go back up next year), median LSAT/gpa at an astounding 168/3.81. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=163847

To be fair, one class isn't "most".

A couple more schools that decreased class size for 2011 are discussed in this article: http://www.law.com/jsp/nylj/PubArticleN ... 2484189234
They're lower-ranked schools, though.

WUSTL did not announce the actual new numbers at orientation except to say that we have the best credentials of any class. Assuming that means we hit our 168 goal, but who can tell?

I don't know if it's been mentioned but BU and UC-Davis (I think? Might be Hastings) also reduced class sizes. More might have, it just isn't known yet.

The data you put for Vanderbilt is incorrect.
2011 entering class GPA: 3.73
http://law.vanderbilt.edu/prospective-s ... index.aspx

Interesting.... I wonder why the GPAs went up for some of the schools. GPA inflation, reduced class sizes, or some other reason?

Anyway, here's data I thought was interesting.
Vanderbilt number of applicants: 2010 = 4885, 2011 = 3987. Vanderbilt's 25th percentile GPA fell by .02. Class size stayed the same (1 seat added)
Duke number of applicants: 2010 = 7905, 2011 = 6102. Duke's 25th percentile LSAT fell by 1 point. Duke's 25th percentile GPA fell by .08. Class size reduced by 27 seats.
UCLA number of applicants: 2010 = 8748, 2011 = 7317. UCLA's median may have stayed the same, but their 25th percentile LSAT and their 75th percentile LSAT both fell by a point. Their 25th percentile GPA dropped by .01. However, they did increase their class size from 308 to 321.

If October is anything like June's ~18% drop in test takers and assuming the distribution of scores is similar to previous years, this cycle should be an interesting one.

Thanks, I updated! And hopefully we'll be getting a lot of new statistics this week because it looks like a lot of orientations are going on.
