I have to say for the record that I found accounting classes moderately difficult. I'm a business major, which I don't think is considered overly difficult and don't expect any brownie points for, but I think will help me out some day in the future because my interests are in employment/labor.

I've heard that some schools like majors that have an emphasis on research and writing like law does. For this reason they may favor Journalism, Philosophy, and Literature... Majors everyone else on the planet finds mostly ridiculous.

My roommate was a business major of some kind and we used to laugh at the pathetic math assignments she brought home. "OMG, rinkrat, today we learned about the X and Y axes!" We both got through AP calc in high school, so her business college math was what we'd been doing in 8th grade.

Yeah, the math is not hard at all. It's one of the reasons I'm a business major: I'm terrible at math. Two algebra classes, two stats classes, that's it. There are lots of classes that have math components to them though and some of those are moderately challenging. Two accounting classes, two finance classes, two econ classes, etc..

To tell you the truth, the hardest classes are the finance classes and this one management class that was hell. I thought it would be cake, but it so wasn't. Overall, the business major is pretty middle of the road.

Agreed. Though, I would put Comp Sci under the Engineering stuff too. I think that varies by school, but I know a lot of slacker guys that barely go to class and carry at least a 3.0 in Comp Sci. You can't do that in say Physics.

Agreed. Though, I would put Comp Sci under the Engineering stuff too. I think that varies by school, but I know a lot of slacker guys that barely go to class and carry at least a 3.0 in Comp Sci. You can't do that in say Physics.

Good computer science programs are ABET accredited. You study pretty much the same basic stuff, while a lot of the material later on is just specialization into what you want to know. It's all about application of concepts.

IIRC, Physics is a liberal arts degree. Lots of theory, not much application at the undergrad level.

All in all who gives a fuck about the difficulty of majors. I was a liberal arts major, spent most of my undergrad drinking and bullshitting, still got stellar grades and a job when I graduated. So lol at all of the engineering majors and shit who actually had to work hard in college.

I just don't agree with that.

The people who enjoy engineering, CS, IT, etc. will find their work fun and interesting.

I enjoy my coursework for CS/IT more than my coursework intro Poli. Sci. - though I find that applying statistical methods to data and coming up with models is far more interesting than CS/IT work. Breadth vs. Depth?

I think CS/IT is harder if you're a virgin at it. From what I've seen.. next to none are. People develop an interest in these majors somewhere throughout Middle/Highschool.
