All that matters is LSAC GPA and the LSAT. We all have upward trends.

An upward trend doesn't matter unless you don't have it. Then it really matters.

What if you have a downward trend but still have a good GPA (i.e. ~3.5 final year but still over a 3.8 overall)?

That's not really much of a downward trend, so I wouldn't worry about it.
